Nanochap ENS001 Electrical Stimulation Kit: Giving New Power to Brain Science Research

The ENS1STIMUEVK is a professional electrical nerve stimulation (ENS) kit. It consists of an ENS1STIMUEVK development board (8-channel), a software controller (upper unit) and stimulation electrodes. All waveform editing is done through the software controller, eliminating the need for the user to edit the lower unit.

Currently, the stimulation kit has been applied to the study of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) and the mechanism of addiction in several internationally recognized universities and research institutes.

 

The stimulation scenario of ENS1STIMUEVK consists of two phases: a detection-off phase and a detection-on phase. The transition between these two phases can be automatically controlled by a software controller. During the probe-on phase, the ENS1STIMUEVK development board generates an ENS waveform, while the stimulation is stopped during the probe-off phase. In addition, the board can utilize either an internal booster or an external booster to generate the ENS waveform during the probe-on phase.The ENS waveform parameters can also be configured by the software controller within the applicable ranges specified in the following table:

Current amplitude 0 - 25000 uA

Positive pulse width 0 - 1000 us 

Negative pulse width 0 - 1000 us

Rest time 0 - 10000 us

Silence time 0 - 10000 ms

Detection on duration 0 - 1000000 ms

Detection off duration 0 - 1000000 ms

The software controller is an upper PC program developed by Nanochap for online configuration and monitoring of the ENS1STIMUEVK development board. The software consists of five pages, Control, Configuration, Channel Status, Logging and Help pages.

The communication parameters for the connection between the control software and the development board can be configured in the Configuration screen. On the “Control” page, the user can configure the stimulus waveform for each channel individually, supporting eight independent channels.


“The Record page is reserved for future customized data storage applications, while the Help page contains a number of topics useful for the evaluation process, including hardware and software setup guides, as well as a summary of frequently asked questions and their answers.


For easy monitoring of stimulus channel status, users can access the Channel Status page to view real-time information for all channels, including channel status, operating time, and probe time.
